The Brief

We were approached by local band Captain Trips, a punk band with a wild edge, to create a custom t-shirt design commemorating their appearance at Punk Rock Holiday - one of Europe’s biggest and most iconic punk rock festivals. Held in the scenic town of Tolmin, Slovenia, surrounded by lush mountains and flowing rivers, the festival merges high-energy punk shows with a laid-back, nature-soaked atmosphere.

The band wanted a design that would celebrate the occasion and resonate with fans, capturing both their personality and the festival's unique vibe.

Our Approach

We kicked off the project by immersing ourselves in the spirit of both Captain Trips and Punk Rock Holiday. The festival is known for its playful energy, festival-goers often float in the river on inflatable rings during the day before hitting the pits at night.

We aimed to create a design that reflected this duality: punk grit mixed with Summer chaos.

What We Created

We landed on a two-part design:

• Front: A simple line logo emblem, minimal and iconic, drawing from classic punk merch aesthetics.

• Back: A bold illustration of the band members floating on inflatable rings (and a unicorn, naturally) - a tongue-in-cheek nod to the festival's infamous river floats.

This contrast between clean branding and playful imagery allowed us to create something both visually striking and rooted in the culture of the event.

The Result

The final product was a standout piece of merch that fans could wear proudly, both as a tribute to Captain Trips and a memento of Punk Rock Holiday’s unique atmosphere.

The band was stoked. We were stoked. And most importantly, the shirts flew off the merch table.
