The Brief

Our journey with C.Smith Books began with a creative challenge: to design artwork for book-themed merchandise inspired by their debut novel, Lost And Found. The goal was to create meaningful, collectible pieces that would resonate with readers and reflect the heart of the story.

Later, ahead of their first in-person author event, C.Smith Books returned to us with a new request, this time for a custom logo and brand identity that could grow alongside their expanding series and audience.

Our Approach

We began by exploring visual directions for the initial merchandise designs, drawing inspiration from the tone, themes, and aesthetic of Lost And Found. This led to the creation of seven bespoke illustrations that brought the author’s vision to life.

When it came time to develop the logo and brand identity, we took a collaborative approach, working closely with the author on colour palettes, typography, and mood. We built on their existing aesthetic to create a refreshed logo that felt personal, professional, and adaptable for future growth.

We also developed four limited-edition logo designs, each reflecting the spirit and individuality of the books within the growing series.

The Result

This project has been a joyful and imaginative dive into the world of bookish branding. From debut novel to full series, it’s been a privilege to contribute to the evolution of C.Smith Books. We’ve loved helping shape a visual identity that readers can connect with and we’re excited to see where the story goes next.
